Not too many buildings are worthy of a six-page spread in Homebuilding and Renovations magazine but this beautiful contemporary eco-home by architects Mark Camillin and Liam Denny certainly is.

It uses Vastern Timber’s cedar cladding and is perfectly suited to its woodland surroundings on the Dorset/Devon border.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, timber cladding is not suited to all properties but this is surely an example of a perfect match between material choice, building design and surroundings. In this open setting the Canadian cedar will weather down to a natural silver grey colour, blending in seamlessly with the woodland setting.
